Hamburg is the second largest city in Germany and somewhat connected to the hamburger: the name hamburger was used at the time to describe cooked chopped beef, a dish served locally here. The modern day currywurst is one of the best inventions ever though, able to warm any belly on a chilly German day. Basically, it is a hot pork sausage cut into slices and seasoned with ketchup and lots of curry powder. Elephant ears/Funnel cakes have nothing on this, though I'm not sure it's a fair competition since they reside more in the sweets category. Anyway, this photo was taken at the fish market, which we were a bit tardy to. So, instead of smelly fish, I bring you one of the many scavenger birds fluttering about...
