At Lake Nakuru, we saw thousands of pink flamigoes and pelicans enjoying the shallow alkaline lake. This was the only time on the safari that it was safe to get out of the vehicle to stretch our legs and take some pictures from the ground. Their bright color comes from the algae and crustaceans that they eat.
