We visited the Kidichi Persian Baths on our way back from the spice tour. Located about 11 kilometers northeast of town, the baths were built by Sultan Seyyid Said -- the son of Said the Great, Burgash bin Said -- in 1850 for his Persian wife. They were built on the highest point of the island and are 'decorated in an ornamental stuccowork that is in the Persian style.' Some tours go to the Maruhubi Palace Ruins, but we missed out on this one. It was built by the third Sultan of Zanzibar Seyyid Barghash for his 99 concubines. Why not aim for a nice round like 100? Not that this has to do with this photo, but I just had to comment.
